Norwegian verbs that are used with “UT”

The adverb “ut” is commonly used in Norwegian to express movement away from a location or state or direction. Here are some common verbs that are used together with “ut” and examples of how to use the structure “verb + ut”:

 

å gå ut
to go out

Hun gikk ut for å lufte hunden.
She went out to walk the dog.

Han gikk ut for å få litt frisk luft.
He went out to get some fresh air.

 

å flytte ut
to move out

Han skal flytte ut av studentboligen.
He is going to move out of the dorm.

to shout out
