Norwegian Preposition Expressions: “opptatt av” – “opptatt med”

In this article we will look at the two preposition expressions å være “opptatt med” and være “opptatt av”.

A preposition expression is a part where there is a preposition together with a noun, verb, or adjective + verb.

“Å være opptatt” means “to be busy”. When you add the preposition “med” (with), you get “å være opptatt med,” which means that you are busy doing something. When you add the preposition “av” you get the expression “opptatt av,” which means that you are interested in doing something or care about something.

The choice of prepositions decides the meaning of the expression, so it is important not to use the wrong preposition.¨ Here are some example of how to use “opptatt av” og “opptatt med.”
