Fjord Karl Johan AS is the owner of three acclaimed Oslo restaurants: Restaurant Eik, Restaurant Fjord, and Restaurant Eik Annen Etage—all known for their high-quality cuisine, elegant atmosphere, and central locations in the heart of Norway’s capital. With a growing number of Chinese tourists visiting Oslo each year, the company saw the need to make their dining experiences more accessible to Chinese-speaking guests. To meet this goal, Fjord Karl Johan AS partnered with NLS Norwegian Language School to provide professional translation services into simplified Chinese.
The project involved the translation of menus, guest information, and promotional materials for all three restaurants. The goal was to present their culinary offerings in a clear, inviting, and culturally adapted manner, ensuring that Chinese guests could navigate the menu and enjoy the full experience without language barriers.
Special attention was given to food-related vocabulary, ingredients, preparation styles, and dietary notes. Each menu was carefully localized to reflect the unique identity of each restaurant—whether the focus was on seasonal Nordic ingredients, fresh seafood, or refined gourmet dishes—while maintaining clarity and elegance in the translated text.
