How to use “I HVERT FALL” in Norwegian

“I hvert fall” is an expression used in the Norwegian language to say “in any case”, “definitely” or “at least.” This phrase is often used to bring up a new idea or change the subject of a conversation.

Here are some examples of how to use the expression “i hvert fall”.

 

1 Selv om hun ikke kan spille piano, så kan hun i hvert fall synge bra.

Although she cannot play the piano, she is at least good at singing.

 

2 Hun har ikke bestemt meg for hvilken bil hun skal kjøpe, men kommer i hvert fall til å kjøpe seg en elbil.

She has not decided which car to buy, but will in any case buy an EV.

 

3. Han blir i hvert fall med på turen dersom du også kommer.

He will definitely join the trip if you also come.

 

4. De har ikke bestemt seg hvilken leilighet de skal kjøpe, men de kjøper i hvert fall en leilighet som ligger nærme Oslo sentrum.

They have not decided which apartment they will buy, but they will at least buy an apartment that is close to Oslo city center.

 

5. Han har ikke bestemt meg for hva han skal gi til moren på bursdagen hennes, men han kommer i hvert fall til å gi henne noe han vet hun liker.

He has not decided what to buy for his mother as a birthday present, but will at least buy something that he knows she likes.
